Very busy week!

On Tuesday we had ZTM, It was a really great missionary meeting! I think I have finally learned to love role playing! I think it really does help us missionaries to practice recognizing the spirit as we teach! I have been able to use what I learn in real missionary life!

This is my MTC district! (Or at least the ones in the mission...)

This is my MTC district! (Or at least the ones in the mission…)

After ZTM, I went on exchange with Sister Gass (in Elmira) ! We had a great time together! It was amazing to see how she has improved in being a missionary! She was definitely not a bad missionary to begin with, however we all can improve in our lives! We meet a lot of wonderful people there, and I felt the love for the people we saw even if it’s not my area! I just love New York with all my heart! It gives me so much joy to see people come to know the truth! I am also grateful that I can change and become a better person each day of my mission 🙂

Sister Gass and I on Exchange!

Sister Gass and I on Exchange!

On Tuesday night we met a family whose son was recently baptized, we taught them the Plan of Salvation. I remember the days of my childhood when I had questions no one could answer! The kids were super cute!

On Wednesday morning

Before we exchanged back, I met a cute family that wants to come to church! It’s so exciting when people have the desire to learn about the gospel! I just love sharing the gospel with everyone! And because of that desire, with the Lord’s help, I have been able to overcome my fear of talking with others, I realized that we as missionaries are already weird anyway, so why should I be scared to talk with them? I just want others to feel the joy I feel!

On Thursday

We did our usual service, we cleaned another church building. After we clean we have lunch with people of that church. We had a wonderful conversation with one of the women we have lunch with. She talked about our relationship with Jesus Christ. She is an amazing woman It is wonderful to have a such a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He knows us so personally! And I am so grateful for that!

We also had wonderful lessons with some of our investigators and less active members. There is a very sweet lady in the ward that we visit, this week we role played the restoration with her (She pretended that she was an investigator) and she gave us some great tips on how to teach it better so that it is more understandable. She is amazing!

Thursday was a busy day!

We found a new investigator! His girlfriend is a less active member of the ward, and he is a non member. We were able to teach them! We had a great lesson and we are excited to go back! They are an amazing family!

One of our investigators has been having a hard time coming to church, because she doesn’t have a skirt and she didn’t feel comfortable wearing pants to church, so a few weeks ago we got her some clothes. She said that the skirts were too long. So we know what we did? We hemmed them up! We found her a ride and the came to church on Sunday! We were so excited to see here there! And so was the rest of the ward! A lot of people introduced themselves to her! The ward is amazing! 🙂

On Friday night

We had dinner with the Talleys! They are so nice and I will miss them dearly when I leave! (So I don’t really want to leave 😉

On Saturday

We were finally able to meet with an investigator whom I have never met before! She had been investigating earlier with previous missionaries, but since I have been here, we have had a hard time correlating a time that we could meet. But we were finally able to meet her! She already has an amazing testimony and I am so glad that I have had the privilege of meeting her! We meet with her two days in a row! Not only am I teaching people but I am also making life long friends! 🙂

We had lunch with Sharon, she is a member in our ward! She has us over for lunch sometimes and I am also glad that I am able to meet her too!

There seems to be a lot of new people at church this week! The Lord is truly blessing us here! “For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul;”

I am so very grateful to be in the Binghamton (Well mostly Vestal 😉  Area! I am grateful to be with Sister Hale! She has help me grow so much! Sometimes when we role play she makes me start over again because I was doing an awful job. Grudgingly I start over, however after I do it the seconded time I know that the second time is better! That’s why we keep practicing and improving!

I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Sister Hale and Sister Trapane’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, VeryBad, Week! ;)

This week started out perfect!

We had a great lesson with one of our investigators! She is so close to coming to church and being baptized! We are very excited for her! 🙂 We were able to bring a member (Sister Donahoe) with us and I think she really encouraged her to come to church! Later that week we were able to have breakfast with Sister Donahoe! She is an amazing person and I am so glad that I am able to get to know her!

We had a relief society activity and we made scarfs and fabric pumpkins! It was so fun and they are very cute 🙂 It was also fun to get to know that relief society member of the ward a little better! 🙂

Was the day our week went down hill. But I’ll laugh about it later!

After lunch on Wednesday

We went to go get our oil changed in the car. They told us it would be about an hour. So for that hour we went out to find people! As we walked we saw a woman who was smoking. It seemed a little bit awkward but we went for it anyway! Well it ended up being awkward. We just want to talk with everyone! We were also able to talk with a few other people as well! An hour later we were back at the car place. They told us that they were also fixing our breaks but that they would be done soon. A half hour went by… then an hour… then two hours. By the time it was done we rescheduled one appointment, we were late another, and the other canceled on us! I am grateful that we have a safe car to drive in, however it was a stressful day! By the time we got home, it was 8:30 and we realized that we didn’t even have dinner… what a day that was! 🙂

On Thursday

We had lunch at Little Venice, with Sister McDaniel, her daughter, and Danielle. It was really good! However, getting to the restaurant was an adventure in and of itself! We thought that Sister McDaniel was going to pick us up, while she thought that we were meeting her there…it was a complete misunderstanding 🙂 It’s just funny how everything just added to the week we were having! 🙂 Later we helped a member clean her house! And we also listened to the Priesthood session of conference since we hadn’t been able to listen to it yet!

Friday was the day that brightened our week!

We were able to have a lesson with a less active and her boyfriend! They were very welcoming and they want to have us back! That’s always a good sign! It made us so happy! They have so much potential! We are excited to go back!

On Saturday

One of our recent converts almost dropped us… She was just having a hard time. Another thing to add to our week! We love her so much and just want to help her!

The cherry on top

Was the fact that is snowed on Sunday! It was very pretty however, it’s too early for it to be snowing!!!

This week was a little hard…

However we would not have been able to get through it without the help of Heavenly Father. I think I learned that we need to do what Heavenly Father wants us to do rather than what we want to do! We may have made these great plans for the week, however God had a better plan for us. Not only did it help us learn and grow as missionaries, it also helped those that we saw! I feel like I can love the people here more because I am striving to do what is right and what is best for them! I love this area and the people in it!

Sunday was a pretty good day!

The theme of church seemed to be about missionary work! All the lessons/talks were very powerful and you could feel the spirit so strong! Something big is going to happen soon I just know it! 😉

We had dinner with the Lewis family on Sunday night! They are a very cute young family and we seemed to get along with them very well! That night we tried finding people in the dark! We have some pretty great adventures and I am grateful for every single one of them!

Have a wonderful week!

So many good things happened this week!!!

On Monday evening, we had FHE with a bunch of the members from the ward. It was a lot of fun! We talked about General Conference. It was fun to hear everyone’s thoughts about it!

Earlier on Monday

We got a text from Sister Guthrie asking if we could come over sometime before Wednesday. We thought that was a strange request knowing that they lives far away. Apparently we forgot to text her back… don’t know how I missed that. So on Tuesday we received another text from Sister Guthrie asking if we wanted to come to dinner that night. Well we didn’t have a dinner plan so of course we said yes! We got to dinner and they told us where to sit.  On my seat, there was a package! It was from my mom for “Hump Day” It was a pleasant surprise! It made me smile! We also had yummy food! Stove top Lasagna or something like that… anyway it was good!

The next day

October 7th, I opened my “Hump Day” package! I got a chocolate frog! That was pretty cool! I can’t believe I have been out for 9 whole months! Time flies so fast! My mission had been so much fun and I have met so many wonderful people! I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Thanks for all the letters and support!

On Wednesday night

We had dinner with the Talley’s… Somehow we had a dinner appointment every night this week! On Sunday no one had signed up because it was Conference weekend and not a lot of people come to the church for it. I guess you could say we are pretty cool! Tonight we are going to the Talley’s again to have s’mores and stuff over a fire! So much fun!

Nothing to spectacular happened on Thursday…

But I got a package! It was another “Hump Day” package, but this time it was from my Dad! I love getting packages! But that might be because I love surprises!

On Friday we had our Mission Conference!

It went from 10-5! It was so long, but it was so good! I was also able to see all of my companions that are still in the mission! (Sister Gass, Sister Abbott, Sister Hess, Sister Chandler, and of course Sister Hale) Elder Bennett from the Seventy came and talked with us and got us pumped to do missionary work, and to become better missionaries! The spirit was so strong and I loved it! They also had yummy food!

So with feeling pumped about missionary work in mind, that night, even though we got home at 8:00 and it was dark already, we decided we were going to work hard for that hour! It was really cool because we were able to set up an appointment for later this week and we had a lesson with a member!

The next day…

There were a ton of people on the streets! We decided to be fearless and talk with as many people as we could! We were able to over come our fear, and met so many wonderful people! Some of them weren’t interested, some didn’t live in the area, and some of them were just nice! However the case may be, were able to talk with people! It made me so happy!!

On Saturday night

We had dinner with Sister Ligouri, We had good food! On Sunday, we had dinner with the Drake’s! Chicken and cranberry sauce tastes good together… The Drakes are super great!

So overall, we had a great week!

This week was weird!

First of all Sister Hess got transferred! I miss her so much already! However Sister Hale is pretty great! She drives now! We have gotten lost so many times… I’ll tell you about that later…

First of all, let me tell you about Sister Hale. Sister Hale is from California (Yay! Someone not from Utah or Idaho! I love all my companions but they’re all from Mormon country…) She has really pretty hair, thick dark brown curls! She wears glasses (also a first). She likes cool stuff like Harry Potter!! YAY!!

On Wednesday

Sister Abbott came to Vestal to work for the day while Sister Hess and Sister Mason (Sister Abbott’s previous companion) went to transfers. We had so much fun catching up and trying not to get lost. A few weeks ago we went tracting and found a couple people who were interested. So we decided to try them. One wasn’t home but the other invited us in! She is very nice and has great potential! Not only did we pick up a new investigator, but I was able to see how far Sister Abbott and I have come since the MTC! Our teaching skills have improved and we are a lot more confident!

Well Sister Hale and the sister she was with got lost getting to our apartment… So they were a little late. That also means we were late going to dinner… Sister Hale and I had our first adventure together!!! We got lost getting to the Hogan’s house for dinner!!! Lots of fun haha! However the drive was beautiful!

It wasn’t until Friday Night…

That I realized that it was Conference weekend! I was so excited! I couldn’t stop talking about it and it was hard to sleep! However I survived! It’s like Christmas!!!

We picked up the Elders before going to conference, good thing we left early because we got lost getting to their apartment! New York roads are confusing so even with a GPS! 🙂

This is what I LOVED about conference:

  • I LOVED the new Apostles testimonies! Anchor your faith in Christ. Weak things will become strong! I am excited to learn from them in future conferences!
  • I LOVED Elder Lawrence’s talk! I think if I had to pick a favorite talk it would be this one! It really helped me! It was so so so good!!!
  • Ponderize, I think I will do this every week! YAY!
  • President Monson’s talk was really good! Be a light of Christ! However it was a little scary at the end, it made my heart break a little! I hope he gets feeling better soon!
  • I Loved the talks by President Nelson and Elder Holland! I could just feel the spirit so much when they spoke!

I don’t even know what else to say!! They were all super super amazing! I just love conference!! So much!

We had a cool experience at Conference!

While we were watching the Saturday Afternoon Session, an investigator (I’ve never met her) texted us. She asked if we could meet her at the church at 5, Well we were already there so we invited her to come watch the rest of it, so she came! We found out later that she was listening to conference all day on her phone! She has a lot of potential and I am excited to teach her!!!

Well that’s about all that’s new this week!
