First thing’s first!
I am getting transferred. 🙁 I am going to Cortland (Near Syracuse). My companion will be my STL (Sister Training Leader) from my first transfer so I’m super excited to be her companion! I feel so much better going to a new area with someone I already know.
This week seemed to be pretty long…
Well it was the same old same old all week.
Saturday couldn’t come sooner! We went up to Potsdam to meet our new mission president and his wife, President and Sister Rogers. They are really great, and I know that the Lord has called them to come to this specific mission for a specific reason. I am excited to get to know them more.
Well earlier this week, our district leader cancelled district meeting because President and Sister Rogers were coming. We had to take a district photo. So we did that. This district that I have been in for the last transfer has been pretty cool, but it’s completely changing! Three people from our district are training, including my companion. I am excited for her!
When we got back to Lake Placid…
We had lunch and then it started pouring! So we couldn’t go outside so we stayed in and studied until it stopped. When it finally stopped, we went out to go tracting. No one was home, so we walked down to see the parade. And of course, it started pouring again. So we took cover under some trees. It finally let up enough so the parade could start. It was a fun parade. We were standing by two cute kids that yelled “HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!” to everyone. So cute! The high school marching band played, it poured again, but they kept on playing. It was pretty fun!
The Zone Leaders called while the fire trucks were blaring down the parade route. They were concerned. But we told them we were at a parade, and they weren’t too concerned after that. When they told me I was going to the Syracuse Zone, I was so excited that I was going there because my former companion is down there. Then they told us that she was training in Norwood… that’s in the Potsdam Zone… were I am now. I was so mad! But it’s OK, I will probably see her at transfers on Wednesday!
We were also told that we couldn’t go out to see the fireworks.
My companion was really bummed because they went off over Mirror Lake. However, we could hear them start to go off while we were planning. My companion went upstairs for something and then she started screaming so I went to grab a shoe because I thought she saw a spider. But then, she started running sown the stairs saying “We can see the fireworks!” So we get outside to take a few pictures. It was truly a #tendermercy!
Obviously, it was fast Sunday yesterday.
I had no intention of going up to bare my testimony (even if it was my last Sunday). But then an Elder went up who is also leaving, and bore his testimony and told everyone he was leaving… I then I felt like I needed to too, so I did. I have come to love Lake Placid so so so much! It is my favorite place. The people there are great! the branch is fun (especially Sacrament meetings). It’s really pretty! I just love it so much and I’m going to miss it!
On Sunday night…
We had dinner with the White’s and Evan’s at the White’s house. These two families (and many other people) have feed the missionaries countless times. They are always happy and they love the missionaries. It is so easy to love them back. I will miss them tons! I hope to come back some day. Oh yeah, so we had hot dogs and yummy pasta salad and Sister Evan’s famous monster cookies. It was a great night!
I’m not even close to being packed…
I’m honestly not sure what happened at the beginning of the week, so that’s why I haven’t told you about it. We tracted… we tried to find people to teach. It’s hard sometimes, but I know that we are planting seeds. It has been great being in Lake Placid, NY!
